Welcome : Movie Preview
‘Welcome’ is an out-and-out comedy starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif as two lovers facing strong opposition to their marriage because of the entirely different backgrounds of their families.
The movie stars Paresh Rawal, Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor, Feroz Khan and Mallika Sherawat. The film is directed by Anees Bazmee.

Characters
Akshay Kumar as Rajiv
Akshay Kumar plays Rajiv, disarmingly simple and straight. He falls flat when he sees Sanjana for the first time. Obedient to the core, he will never defy his uncle. But when he sees his dream of marrying his dream girl going up in gun smoke, he realizes that he has to do something drastic to save his future.
Katrina Kaif as Sanjana
Sanjana is exquisitely pretty, but tough enough to carry on Rajiv through a raging fire. But even her brave heart falters when her brother crosses swords with Rajiv’s equally stubborn uncle and she sees her love being blown to smithereens.
Paresh Rawal as Dr. Ghungroo
Paresh Rawal is Dr. Ghungroo. All this highly respected doctor wants is a bride from a respectable family for his nephew Rajiv. And when he finds himself cheated into an alliance with a girl from a notorious gangster family, he will die rather than bend.
Nana Patekar as Uday Shetty
This wannabe actor turned dreaded don has a silver tongue and can shed crocodile tears at the drop of a hat. If he has any weakness, it is his only sister Sanjana. He will do anything and everything to make her happy, except give up his criminal ways.
Anil Kapoor as Majnubhai
Anil Kapoor plays Majnubhai. His passion for painting canvases puts lives and limbs at risk, not to mention his soft heart that stops just short of putting a bullet through your head. He has made it his life’s mission to find a suitable groom for his bhai’s sister.
Mallika Sherawat as Ishika
Mallika plays a bombshell Ishika. She has the sex appeal to set many a heart aflutter. And one of those who have been bowled over by her is Majnubhai.
Feroz Khan as RDX
Feroz Khan plays RDX. He is as explosive as his name. Living life kingsize, he struts his stuff in style, fires with both hands and loves his son Lucky to death.
Synopsis
Dr. Ghungroo (Paresh Rawal) is searching for a suitable bride for his nephew Rajiv (Akshay) . Dr. Ghungroo wants a girl from a family that should have impeccable background and spotless reputation. For obvious reasons, every bridal interview ends with him storming off in rage and disgust. Rajiv seems destined to remain a bachelor.
Uday Shetty (Nana Patekar) is a highly feared underworld don who is searching for a suitable boy for his only sister Sanjana. Uday wants a boy from a respectable family with spotless reputation. For obvious reasons, all the boys he interviews run away in fright when they realize who they are dealing with. Sanjana seems destined to remain a spinster.
But then, along comes raging fire that plays cupid and entices Rajiv and Sanjana to fall in love. Along comes a conniving pandit who plays a matchmaker after hiding a few truths.
Dr. Ghungroo is ecstatic. Beautiful Sanjana is what he wanted for Rajiv. Uday Shetty too is excited. Handsome Rajiv is what he wanted for Sanjana.
Then Dr. Ghungroo learns the bitter truth that Sanjana comes from a dangerous family of gangsters. And Uday Shetty also realizes the harsh truth that no threats will coerce Rajiv’s uncle into accepting this marriage.
And then, there is also Isha or Ishika (Mallika Sherawat) who enters the scene as Rajiv’s childhood bride and ends up as Uday Shetty and Majnubhai’s sweetheart.

The songs of ‘Welcome’ are composed by three musicians – Himesh Reshammiya, Anand Raj Anand and Sajid Wajid. Sanjay F Gupta is the director of photography.
‘Welcome’ has been shot in Dubai and India. The film is produced by Feroz Nadiadwala and directed by Anees Bazmee .
