Katrina says YES, Jha says NO

Prakash Jha’s political saga ‘Rajneeti’ is one project which is looked upon eagerly. Not only we have here a striking star cast including Nana Patekar, Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgn, Ranbir Kapoor, Naseruddin Shah, Manoj Bajpai and Arjun Rampal but also one can get to see a totally different persona of our pretty Kat as a politician.

Although with a serious issue on as its backdrop, interestingly ‘Rajneeti’ does have a momentary relief in the form of an item song. Birdies said that no matter how serious his films are Prakash Jha usually makes it a point to have one much-talked about song. For ‘Rajneeti’, it is heard that he has a club mix hip-hop number composed by Pritam. But no, don’t thing that our Barbie actress will groove on to the number! For, the filmmaker believes that it won’t be proper if Kat does that song, even though Katrina had expressed a keen interest in being part of the song.

Sources believe that Katrina doesn't want to give up on her image as a commercial actress and wants to feature in the song as after the initial few scenes in Rajneeti, she goes completely deglam. Getting to dance to this masala number was perhaps her way of ensuring that her sexy image remains intact. However, the director might find some other actress for the item song.

Whereas, Prakash Jha stated that he is yet to decide on several aspects of the song. “Ranbir is definitely not part of the song and I will soon finalise who will feature in the number,” added the director. On the other hand, Kat rubbished the alleged tittle-tattled about her.

Katrina to do item number in Rajneeti?

Even though she has completely shed her glam doll image to play a politician in Prakash Jha's Rajneeti , Katrina Kaif is reluctant to give up the jhatkas and matkas that are such an integral part of being a Bollywood actress. So what if she plays a prim and propah neta in Rajneeti ? It doesn't stop her from wanting to dance to a club song in the film. While Katrina wants to let out her filmi side, filmmaker Prakash Jha doesn't want her to deviate from her role and is currently looking out for another actress to perform in the song.

A source said, “No matter how serious his films are Prakash Jha usually makes it a point to have one much-talked about song. For Rajneeti, he has a club mix hiphop number composed by Pritam. Katrina, who is the film's lead actress, has expressed a keen interest in being part of the song. However, Jha feels that he should get another established actress for the song and has already spoken to some likely candidates. Katrina clearly doesn't want to give up on her image as a commercial actress and wants to feature in the song as after the initial few scenes in Rajneeti, she goes completely deglam. Prakash Jha confirmed the news and said, “Yes, we have a club song which Katrina is extremely keen to do. But, I have yet to decide on several aspects of the song. Ranbir (Kapoor, lead actor of Rajneeti) is definitely not part of the song and I will soon finalise who will feature in the number.”

Completely denying the news, Katrina Kaif said, “Rubbish. I don't know anything about this.”

Katrina's image change creates problems for Rajneeti

On the sets of Rajneeti , Prakash Jha has had to deal with much more than temper tantrums. It took Jha a lot of time to explain the concept of continuity to the film’s lead actress Katrina Kaif.

It is said that Katrina’s role is fashioned after Sonia Gandhi. Thus, a lot of effort and styling has gone into deglamourising the usually sensual actress. She has to maintain a sari-clad look sans make up, which is far from the way she has been portrayed in her past films.

Our source said, “Katrina did not seem to understand the importance of continuity. Every other day, she would turn up on the sets looking completely different. Often, Jha would be surprised to see Katrina looking like a different person altogether. He had to summon her make-up man to get her look redone; to make it match the look in the last scene on the previous day.”

The funny bit is the fact that Katrina never seemed to realize this. She would simply say, “ Main to waisi hi lag rahi hoon, different nahin .”

Naturally, a lot of time was wasted while the make-up man worked on Katrina’s look. Jha denied the story saying, “What rubbish! Katrina’s character undergoes a metamorphosis in the film but I never had a continuity problem with her and didn’t lose any time either. She was perfect.”

Katrina, of course, echoed Prakash Jha’s statement.
