Recipe to Improve Memory

Recipe to Improve Memory

As people age, they often feel their memory is not what it once was. Here are a few simple points to help you maintain and improve memory.

1- Stay mentally active:-
This is a key part of maintaining your memory. Express recommended cross word puzzles, board games a new career or hobby, anything that stimulates the mind.

2- Stay Physically active:-
Regular physical exercise helps get more blood to the brain. Exercising 20---30 minutes most days of the week is ideal, whether it’s swimming riding a stationary bicycle, or even just walking.

3- Don’t Smoke:-
Smokers are at greater risk of mental decline than non-smokers, as smoking can impair mental function by damaging the blood vessels that supply oxygen and nutrients to the brain.

4- Place commonly misplaces able items in the in the same spot:-
If you are often losing items (keys, sunglasses, etc) find a place to leave them, and make a habit of putting them.

5- Write it down:-
Write down important information such as telephone numbers or diary dates and place the list in a conspicuous spot. Making a “ to do “ list can also serve as a reminder and go through the list before leaving the house each day.

6- Saying it out loud:-
Giving yourself a verbal reminder often helps you remember later on, for example, “I have locked the front door” will help you remember that you have actually done it. If you have problems remembering names, put them into the conversation after you have met a person, this will help the memory retain the name.

7- Use memory aids:-
A pocket note pad, personal digital assistant, wrist watch alarm , etc. will help you remember important information.
